LIFE AND ME, by DAVID IGNATOW Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: I'm only a bystander Last Line: In these lines. Subject(s): Absence; Life; Separation; Isolation | ||||||||
I'm only a bystander, I once inhabited you. Now you are about to leave, first having made me weak and ill, so as to force me to want to be rid of you. Well, we were once good lovers and took care of one another. I gave you ecstasy, you returned it doubly. All right, you are tired, I too am tired because of you. Let's call it a day. It was good knowing you. Remember me in your grave, I will remember you in these lines. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EVENING OF THE MIND by DONALD JUSTICE CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM HOME by JANE KENYON THE PROBLEM by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES WHEN A WOMAN LOVES A MAN by DAVID LEHMAN |
