Alternate Author Name(s): Filsinger, Ernest B., Mrs.
Subject(s): Love - Nature Of; Waves

I stood on the shore of the world,
As one might stand by the sea,
And love, like a splendid wave
Surged up the sand to me,

Terrible, full of song,
Bearing its crown with pride,
But I feared the onward surge,
Like a coward I turned aside.

Love, like a broken wave,
Ebbed and the sand was bare,
Save where the flecks of foam
Vanished into the air.
