PANEGYRIC, by ABU BAKR MUHUMMAD First Line: I do not know what I can bring Last Line: Their stars include the unarmed fish. | ||||||||
I do not know what I can bring To court the graces of my king, Not having any aptitude Whereby his favours may be wooed. Yet I will take my love for you And consciousness of service true To be my advocate, whose word May likeliest in your heights be heard. And though I lack the instruments Of Zoar's starry eminence, I would remind you, if you wish, Their stars include the Unarmed Fish. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FATIGUE; EPIGRAM by HILAIRE BELLOC THE VOICE by WILFRID WILSON GIBSON ON THE BIRTH OF HIS SON by SU SHIH INSULTING BEAUTY by JOHN WILMOT THE WORLD'S WAY by THOMAS BAILEY ALDRICH THE SCHOOLROOM OF POETS by WILLIAM ROSE BENET |
