AS NIGHT COMES, by CHARLES G. ADAMS First Line: Day silently passes, the twilight falls Last Line: To the somber robe flung down as night comes. Subject(s): Night; Bedtime | |||
Day silently passes, the twilight falls, Like old amber splashed on the garden walls. Jagged hills, tawny as a lion cub, Rise majestically over green fields; And the air trembles with a rasping rub As measured as breathing of fabled gnomes ... Then in that breathless moment twilight yields To the somber robe flung down as night comes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN THEY CALL IT BUSINESS by CHARLES G.
