I DEMAND, by JAMES R. AGGELES First Line: I would not decry the wisdom of a god Last Line: When the soul of me is god? Subject(s): Aging | |||
I would not decry the wisdom of a God Nor yet infer that He who planned the whole Knew not whereof he planned. But yet I yearn enlightment which to my youth is banned Wherefore am I of spirit half and half of earth's sod? I tread with eager ernestness the trail that sages trod I scale the hoary peaks of age and like a babe I stand And wait for some all-knowing one to answer my demand Why am I bound to finite clay.
