Praise Him, Al-Haiy! the "Ever-living" King,
Who to eternal life His own doth bring.

Saith the Book: "Count not as dead
Such as for the Faith have bled;
Stark and red their bodies lie,
But their souls are in the sky,
Resident with God, who grants
All for which the spirit pants.
Joyful are they, resting there
Free from sorrow, pain, or fear;
Watching us who, left in life,
Are not quit, as yet, of strife;
But shall soon attain, to share
Allah's mercies, and declare—
Side by side with those—that He
Showeth grace eternally,
And withholdeth not the pay
At the ending of the day.

Ya-Haiy! Thou ever-living Lord,
Be ours such work and such reward.
