PRAISE OF WATER, by THEODORE FAULLAIN DE BANVILLE Poet's Biography First Line: The rain, the rain at length Last Line: Wine, wine, exulting wine! Subject(s): Water | ||||||||
THE rain, the rain at length; And from the gift divine The parched and drooping vine Recovers life and strength. The praise of water sing, Let none the theme decline; Since doth from water spring Wine! wine! refreshing wine! While water's praise I sound, I feel my throat grow dry; Quick, push the bottle round, Which doth the flask supply. And, merry friends, I think, If you my chorus join, Water will make you drink Wine, wine, exulting wine! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...STARS WHICH SEE, STARS WHICH DO NOT SEE by MARVIN BELL WASHING OUR HANDS OF THE REST OF AMERICA by MARVIN BELL WATER, WINTER, FIRE by MARVIN BELL AT FONT-GEORGES by THEODORE FAULLAIN DE BANVILLE BALLADE OF THE FOREST HAUNTERS by THEODORE FAULLAIN DE BANVILLE |
