WILD ROSES, by RHODA S. BARCLAY First Line: Flash of pink by the roadside Last Line: O roses, I love you! Subject(s): Flowers; Roses | ||||||||
Flash of pink by the roadside, Framed in lobes of green, Pink like a sea shell's lining, With meadow grasses' sheen. An old rail fence forms a trellis, A heap of rocks, a ledge; Bits of white cloud make a curtain, Butterfly weeds, a hedge. And flowers of the wild, you're bringing Such happy things I knew, A trudging child, girl dreams -- O roses, I love you! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WHISPER OF THE ROSE by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG THE WISDOM OF THE ROSE by ELSA BARKER LOVE PLANTED A ROSE by KATHARINE LEE BATES ROSES; A VILANELLE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE PAINTER ON SILK by AMY LOWELL VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
