THE THRESHER TO THE WINDS, by JOACHIM DU BELLAY Poet's Biography First Line: Ye rapid troops and light Last Line: Beneath the midday heat. Alternate Author Name(s): Du Bellay, Joachim | ||||||||
YE rapid troops and light, Who your far-wandering flight O'er every region take, And, murmuring shrill and low, Through shady verdures go, And sway and gently shake. I offer flowerets, Lilies and violets, And roses fair to you. Roses all nature's pride, New blown and open wide, And bright carnations too. With your soft, cooling breath, Blow over plain and heath, Blow hither fresh and fleet, The while I toil and strain, To fan the wheaten grain Beneath the midday heat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A SONNET TO HEAVENLY BEAUTY by JOACHIM DU BELLAY A THRESHER OF WHEAT TO THE WYNDES by JOACHIM DU BELLAY DIDO TO AENEAS by JOACHIM DU BELLAY EPITAPH ON A CAT by JOACHIM DU BELLAY HYMN TO THE WINDS by JOACHIM DU BELLAY |
