LILIES of white in a noon-day dream
Lift lashes of wondering eyes,
And breathe their scent at my window-sill
Like a lover's passionate sighs.

I sit and gaze at the summer light
In the violet heavens burning --
And think of an eye that is lit for me
With wonder and prayer and yearning.
