Rejoicing, celebrant and wild with joy we were And it was well! There was enough to stir the heart Of all the nation unto shouts of praiseto hear The word we longed for, news of peace; to know the part Our country took in all that went to bring the end to pass! To know that peace may be the portion of the world when all The remnant rubbish of the wreck of war is cleared, to mass The heaping blessings of the years to come, when calls shall fall Upon the earthit is enough to thrill the soul with joy! But Peace her problems and responsibilities will bring The battles were but clearing of the way! Now to employ The victory that peace shall mean what 'twas designed, to fling About the nations such security that, knowing, trusting, each Shall keep the other's safety as a sacred thing; that task Is for the world today: To build so deep and broad that any breach Of peace shall be impossible.
