A WINTER'S NIGHT IN IRONDEQUOIT, by EMMA MAGIN BISSELL First Line: Oh, what a night in irondequoit! Last Line: They blaze before their eyes. Subject(s): Beauty; Memory | ||||||||
Oh, what a night in Irondequoit! I wish I knew how to explain! The dazzling of jewels and rare diamonds That captured the orchard and lane. Oh what a riot of beauty And glitter in the bitter cold! The clear sky and moonbeams romancing, Their secrets of love untold! A picture for memory's art gallery Of beauty that heaven lends; A pretty bright scene to remember When gloom the heart attends. Men treasure these scenes of beauty Long after their glamor dies; And when in the stronghold of duty, They blaze before their eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND THE SAME QUESTION by JOHN HOLLANDER FORGET HOW TO REMEMBER HOW TO FORGET by JOHN HOLLANDER ON THAT SIDE by LAWRENCE JOSEPH MEMORY OF A PORCH by DONALD JUSTICE BEYOND THE HUNTING WOODS by DONALD JUSTICE |
