LOST, by EMMA MAGIN BISSELL First Line: Fluttering leaves by the wind are tossed Last Line: Did you say farewell when I plucked that rose? Subject(s): Autumn; Loss; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
Fluttering leaves by the wind are tossed, Autumn has come, summer is lost; Perhaps somewhere in the meadow breeze It sought sweet rest 'neath its golden leaves. Summer, sweet summer, where have you fled? Oh, beautiful summer, I fear you are dead; I searched the great wildwood, I looked everywhere Summer, sweet summer, your face is not there. You vanished so quickly, Oh where have you flown? My sweet lovely comrade, you left me alone With only a memory and a last red rose.
