FAITH, by B. M. BLATCHLEY First Line: I sail my bark on a placid sea Last Line: By my faith in the father dear. Subject(s): Christianity; Faith; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
I sail my bark on a placid sea -- A sea of hope and cheer; I bank my trust in a faith divine -- A faith in the Father dear. He guides by day and he guides by night, His truth is my steering gear; Whatever the goal, it is gained if the soul Has faith in the Father dear. I set my sail in the narrow way From which I'll never veer; I press on for aye for the prize of the High, For I've faith in the Father dear. Though clouds of gloom and billows dark And devils of doubt and fear Should tempt me aside, I will yet abide By my faith in the Father dear. He bids, "Sail on! My strength is thine, Be sure I am ever near; Our unity thy shield shall be, Still trust in your Father, dear." O soul serene, O trust sublime In the promise His Son gave here! "Believe and receive" are his words I'll prove By my faith in the Father dear. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL |
