THE ANSWER, by
First Line: In days to come I'll see you standing there
Last Line: That quivers neath the hurt of wanton touch.

In days to come I'll see you standing there
So coldly calm! A look within your eyes
As one will gaze when wakened by a stare
Of concentration. Anger and surprise,
And rather more of wounded pride behind
Those heavy lidded orbs of strength and light
That read my heart and sought to probe my mind.
Ah, vain pursuit! When reason seeks the right
Of choice, and choosing takes the pebbled path
That points the way to virtue, then my love
It's wiser a retreat to stage, ere wrath
Pours forth in storm, like torrents from above.
A woman's heart, milord, is made of such
That quivers neath the hurt of wanton touch.
