WHITE BIRCHES, by
First Line: Against the upper darkness - the dark pines
Last Line: On this morning of silver rain.
Subject(s): Birch Trees; Fields; Pine Trees; Rain; Trees; Pastures; Meadows; Leas

Against the upper darkness -- the dark pines,
Against the lower lightness -- the soft green
Of meadows newly rained upon --
Your whiteness stands out
With an unexpected loveliness
On this morning of silver rain.
