VIVAMUS, by ROBERT SEYMOUR BRIDGES Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: When thou didst give thy love to me Last Line: Unless I give my life for thee. Alternate Author Name(s): Bridges, Robert+(2) Subject(s): Love | |||
When thou didst give thy love to me, Asking no more of gods or men I vow'd I would contented be, If Fate should grant us summers ten. But now that twice the term is sped, And ever young my heart and gay, I fear the words that then I said, And turn my face from Fate away. To bid thee happily good-bye I have no hope that I can see, No way that I shall bravely die, Unless I give my life for thee. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD A PASSER-BY by ROBERT SEYMOUR BRIDGES |
