INTO THE HEART OF LIFE, by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON Poet's Biography First Line: I am feeling my way into the heart of life Last Line: Soon or late! Subject(s): Fate; Life; Destiny | ||||||||
I AM feeling my way into the heart of Life, And the way is long, and the years now left are few; And the sign-posts point to pain and doubt and strife, -- And dream, and dew. High to-day is low to-morrow, and dark Turns shining weather, the while I trudge along; Crash of elements stuns me, suddenly, hark, -- Sounds a song! Help me, comrade, even as I help you, Both of us faring on to the selfsame Fate; God be with us, ours be the dream and dew, -- Soon or late! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ATTEMPTING TO ANSWER DAVID IGNATOW'S QUESTION by ROBERT BLY FROST AND HIS ENEMIES by ROBERT BLY THE WORLDS IN THIS WORLD by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR UNABLE TO FIND by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR TO HELEN KELLER - HUMANITARIAN, SOCIAL DEMOCRAT, GREAT SOUL by EDWIN MARKHAM DOMESDAY BOOK: FINDING OF THE BODY by EDGAR LEE MASTERS WE COME BACK by KENNETH REXROTH THE WAKING (2) by THEODORE ROETHKE BLACK SHEEP by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON |
