SEND FORTH THE VOICE, by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON Poet's Biography First Line: Send forth the voice; it never shall return Last Line: Nor shall that golden voice fall mute again. Subject(s): God; Soul; Voices | ||||||||
SEND forth the Voice; it never shall return, The sound of it like bells must travel far, And many a man song-hungry, soul a-yearn, Shall listen, and look up, and glimpse a star. Send forth the Voice, to heal the questing souls Long famished for celestial news; and, lo, Manna shall feed them, and great aureoles Brighten sad brows, and bless the lives brought low. Since all the ages wait such messages, Since every son of man is beauty-fain, And music God's eternal vassal is, Send forth the Voice; The world shall straight rejoice, Nor shall that golden Voice fall mute again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VOICES OF THE AIR by KATHERINE MANSFIELD FIVE EASY POEMS; FOR ANNE-MARIE ALBIACH: 4 (MEZZA VOICE) by MICHAEL PALMER A SINGING VOICE by KENNETH REXROTH A VOICE FROM THE SWEAT-SHOPS (A HYMN WITH RESPONSES) by LOUIS UNTERMEYER BLACK SHEEP by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON |
