BIRD MINSTRELS, by GRACE E. BUSH First Line: Within the dark and silent void of night Last Line: Up the glad hills of morning, came the light! Subject(s): Birds | |||
Within the dark and silent void of night I heard a bird voice call, Thrilling and bright. How dauntlessly the tiny carol rang, The very voice of Faith and Joy made real! And thenoh, hark! across the dark Another answered it; and yet another, Each vying with his brother To send a sweeter note From out his unseen throat: "Rejoice! at last, at last, Dawn comes, and Night is past!" And, lo, upon my sight, Brighter and yet more bright, Up the glad hills of Morning, came the Light! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...GLIMPSES OF THE BIRDS by JOHN HOLLANDER GLIMPSES OF THE BIRDS by JOHN HOLLANDER AUDUBON EXAMINES A BITTERN by ANDREW HUDGINS DISPATCHES FROM DEVEREUX SLOUGH by MARK JARMAN A COUNTRY LIFE by RANDALL JARRELL CANADIAN WARBLER by GALWAY KINNELL YELLOW BIRD by KENNETH SLADE ALLING THE CRIPPLE by KARLE WILSON BAKER OLD MEN ON THE COURTHOUSE LAWN, MURRAY, KENTUCKY by JAMES GALVIN |
