MY VALENTINE, by ERNEST CAMP JR. First Line: My valentine's a tulip, peeping from the garden shade Last Line: That her laughing lips lend cadence to the music of her voice! Subject(s): Holidays; Valentine's Day | ||||||||
My Valentine's a tulip. peeping from the garden shade, A wild and vivid aster that's half hidden in the glade, A frail but fragrant violet struggling up towards the sun, A wind-blown rose that beckons to the day that's just begun. My Valentine's a forest that is green and gray and gold, Where the tall pines talk to Nature in a chant that's ages old, Where silence is a solace and each tree and songbird seems To fit into the substance and the pattern of my dreams. My Valentine's a sunrise, with its rose tints and its glow That glorifies the skyways and the waiting world below, Then swings across the heavens with adventure in its breast To sink into the splendor and the witchery of the west. My Valentine's a woman who reminds me of the rose, Of the sunrise and the sunset, and the grace that charm bestows, Where she walks the way is fragrant, when she speaks all hearts rejoice That her laughing lips lend cadence to the music of her voice! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ANOTHER DARK LADY by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON THE LOVE SONNETS OF PROTEUS: 60.
