PRAYER, by EDNA WOODS CAMPBELL First Line: Life serves me well, o god; let me know it more Last Line: That they may comfort me when life, at last, brings tears. Subject(s): Prayer | ||||||||
Life serves me well, O God; let me know it more. Let me feel my happiness in my heart's red core. Good years have I lived with love in gentleness and calm, A fragrance permeates my days and soothes me as a balm Soft on my brow; so over and over I fain Must remind myself that love also means pain. Let me realize how kind to me these years, That they may comfort me when life, at last, brings tears. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY AFTER TU FU (THEY SAY YOU'RE STAYING IN A MOUNTAIN TEMPLE) by MARVIN BELL |
