A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 8, by THOMAS CAMPION Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Tune thy music to thy heart Last Line: Love alone to him is ever pleasing. Subject(s): God; Conduct Of Life | ||||||||
TUNE thy music to thy heart, Sing thy joy with thanks and so thy sorrow: Though Devotion needs not Art, Sometimes of the poor the rich may borrow. Strive not yet for curious ways: Concord pleaseth more, the less 'tis strained; Zeal affects not outward praise, Only strives to show a love unfeigned. Love can wondrous things effect, Sweetest sacrifice all wrath appeasing; Love the Highest doth respect; Love alone to Him is ever pleasing. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD by MATTHEA HARVEY SLOWLY: I FREQUENTLY SLOWLY WISH by LYN HEJINIAN MY LIFE: YET WE INSIST THAT LIFE IS FULL OF HAPPY CHANCE by LYN HEJINIAN CHAPTER HEADING by ERNEST HEMINGWAY PUNK HALF PANTHER by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA A CERTAIN MAN by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA GREEN-STRIPED MELONS by JANE HIRSHFIELD LIKE THE SMALL HOLE BY THE PATH-SIDE SOMETHING LIVES IN by JANE HIRSHFIELD A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 9 by THOMAS CAMPION |
