SOFT FEATHERS SPURNED, by RUTH CARROLL First Line: I don't like my pillow - now Last Line: That I will be content with sleep. Subject(s): Sleep | ||||||||
I don't like my pillow -- now. The smug look on its fat and foolish face Reveals belief that it can take your place. With pride it cries, "Look at me! I offer peace -- tranquillity." Oh God! Who wants tranquillity? I want you -- hot lips, warm breath To make my pulses leap. While my poor pedantic pillow thinks That I will be content with sleep. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...YOU'S SWEET TO YO' MAMMY JES DE SAME by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON CHAMBER MUSIC: 3 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 22 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE GOING TO SLEEP by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN THE BLUE NAP by WILLIAM MATTHEWS THE HEART'S RETURN by EDWIN MARKHAM |
