I held you in my arms,
And all the world was golden . . .
The starry beauty of your eyes,
The petaled softness of your cheek,
The dripping honey of your lips
Intoxicated me . . .
I kissed you in a whirling flame of glory;
Then suddenly my heart went cold
With longing to catch again
That vivid moment of anticipation!
