INDIAN NIGHT, by
First Line: The dark wind rushed from the empty plain
Last Line: Whimpered the tents to sleep.
Subject(s): Night; Bedtime

The dark wind rushed from the empty plain
And thrust at the tepee door;
A little brown deer went down to drink
At the spring on the valley floor.

The moon soared up and rode the sky;
Cats began to creep;
A burrowing owl in a prairie dog hole
Whimpered the tents to sleep.
