A NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE, by BLANCHE EDENS CHANDLER First Line: As I look all around me and wonder Last Line: Living the new year, day by day. Subject(s): Christianity; Holidays; Leadership; New Year | ||||||||
As I look all around me and wonder Just what the New Year holds, I hear a Voice saying, "Fear Not"; And I know it's the One who molds The lives of men, and their destiny. I am afraid to travel alone The rough, rugged pathway I trod; Yet I will have sure, safe council, If I will but listen to God. I am so weak and sinful, And know not the best thing to do; But I have a Friend who is loyal, I have a Friend who is true; And when I would fail Him and falter, When temptations spring up anew; I list to the Voice above As it tells me of Jesus' love; And I know I am safe, as I go my way Living the New Year, day by day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NEW YEAR'S POEM by MARGARET AVISON A SPEED OF HISTORY by MARGARET AVISON NEW YEAR'S DAY by DAVID LEHMAN LINES FOR THE NEW YEAR by JULIE CARR I AM RUNNING INTO A NEW YEAR by LUCILLE CLIFTON |
