If, when my dust has once again Become a part of God's fair earth, And I could have the chance to take another form, In all the glow of a new birth, I know my one desire would be To turn into a pine. With branches lifted to a star-lit sky; Branches curved just a wee bit To hold the nests of birds and hear them sing, While I would gently rock them in the wind Swinging like a green-bowed swing. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PINSK AFTER DARK by ALLEN GINSBERG TRANSFORMATIONS by THOMAS HARDY PRE-EXISTENCE by PAUL HAMILTON HAYNE ETERNITY by GRACE GRISWOLD BISBY UNREGENERATE by JACQUELINE EMBRY SECOND LIFE by JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE THE POEMS OF COLD MOUNTAIN: 100 by HAN SHAN THE POEMS OF COLD MOUNTAIN: 185 by HAN SHAN AN AUTUMN GHOST-TRAIL by ALICE CHURCHILL CHAPHE THE RESPECTABLE BURGHER, ON 'THE HIGHER CRITICISM' by THOMAS HARDY |
