SOME LATE LARK SINGING, by BROTHER CLEMENT First Line: These are my songs. As all men sing Last Line: Me up, and far below, some late lark sings! Subject(s): Birds; Larks; Pain; Singing & Singers; Skylarks; Suffering; Misery; Songs | ||||||||
These are my songs. As all men sing -- No more -- so I have crouched and sung Low in the earth-nest with the bird, Chirping at stars, but satisfied with rain. Now falls the last gold leaf, blown thin, The blue grape shrivels, sealed in dusk, The long night leans across the sun. . . . There will be quiet, limitless, for sleep. These are my songs. As all men sing Out of their hurt, so I have sung Out of His pain. The last hill calls Me up, and far below, some late lark sings! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY LIMITLESS OUT OF THE DUSK by BROTHER CLEMENT |
