IMPASSE, by FLOSSIE DEANE CRAIG First Line: A thought evolved within my mind Last Line: What holds us captive where we are. Subject(s): Thought; Thinking | ||||||||
A thought evolved within my mind: It was a swift, elusive thing Scarce stirred until, on beating wing, It sped before me like the wind. It changed its coat, its color, too, And when it reached the farthest post Was changed from substance to a ghost Before it vanished from my view. When thoughts have been pursued as far As power of mind can follow them, Then are we eager to condemn What holds us captive where we are. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MILLE ET UN SENTIMENTS (PREMIERS CENTS) by DENISE DUHAMEL SUNDAY AFTERNOON by CLARENCE MAJOR I BROOD ABOUT SOME CONCEPTS, FOR EXAMPLE by ALICIA SUSKIN OSTRIKER EASY LESSONS IN GEOPHAGY by KENNETH REXROTH GENTLEMEN, I ADDRESS YOU PUBLICLY by KENNETH REXROTH ON FLOWER WREATH HILL: 1 by KENNETH REXROTH BREAK DOWN THESE BARRIERS by FLOSSIE DEANE CRAIG |
