WHEN WINTER COMES, by PEARL CROOKS First Line: When winter comes with its chilly blast Last Line: Unfolding itself about us, when winter comes. Subject(s): Memory; Winter | ||||||||
When winter comes with its chilly blast, And all the world seems dreary; We dream of memories of the past, All of which makes us cheery. We see the fields with their blanket of snow, As o'er the country we gaze; And smile to ourselves, as we all know It's merely taking the place of the maize. We miss the green grass all over the lawns, And the birds that would come after crumbs. For unto us a new world dawns, Unfolding itself about us, when winter comes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE SAPPHIC SUICIDE NOTE by JAMES GALVIN VIGNETTES OVERSEAS: 6.
