A SMALL POET INQUIRES, by FLORENCE CROW First Line: I do not know the organ notes Last Line: Shall I not play? | |||
I do not know the organ notes, Its stops and keys, And so I cannot thunder its Full harmonies. I cannot draw a cello bow Across its strings So that you catch your breath and say An angel sings. But if I own a little pipe -- A hollow reed -- And know a tune that's wild and thin Yet sweet indeed, Learned of the river and the wind One autumn day -- Learned maybe at the river's edge, Shall I not play? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...COUNTRY AFTERNOON by FLORENCE CROW OLD MILL TEA-ROOM by FLORENCE CROW DEWEY IN MANILA BAY [MAY 1, 1898] by RICHARD VORHEES RISLEY EPITAPH by LASCELLES ABERCROMBIE PATRIOTISM AND FREEDOM by JOANNA BAILLIE THE IMPROVISATORE: THE INDUCTION TO THE THIRD FYTTE by THOMAS LOVELL BEDDOES SEA QUATRAINS by GRANT HYDE CODE THE SUNSET CITY by HENRY SYLVESTER CORNWELL RESOLUTION OF A POETICAL QUESTION CONCERNING FOUR RURAL SISTERS: 3 by CHARLES COTTON PLEASURES OF TOWN AND COUNTRY by THOMAS FITZGERALD |
