AMERICANS, by W. CEPHAS CUNNINGHAM First Line: To the loftiest height the eagle soars Last Line: While living in harmonious relations has reached the crest. Subject(s): Freedom; Liberty | ||||||||
To the loftiest height the eagle soars From the starry blue sky of sparkling light At the mountains and hills the waterfalls roars In the valleys of fertility are found the necessities of life From other countries have come prospective citizens In the hope of living in a land of opportunity With the goddess of liberty holding aloft the torch for entrance Friendly neighbors helping to establish a home with security. From the east to the west are to be found People working and doing their best; To the south and the north engaged in tilling the ground While living in harmonious relations has reached the crest. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOVE THE WILD SWAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS AFTER TENNYSON by AMBROSE BIERCE QUARTET IN F MAJOR by WILLIAM MEREDITH CROSS THAT LINE by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE |
