Twice in one hour I've seen this lovely Night, Flustered at having all those jewels there Spilling her stars, that fall from Heaven to Earth, As though she carried more than she could bear. While I, a struggling dreamer, all day long, That tries to polish one poor little rhyme Though breathed on hard, and rubbed with ecstasy, Still call on Night to see my wasted time. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS A BIRD'S ANGER by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES |
