L IS FOR LIGHT, by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES Poet Analysis First Line: What lovely meadows have I seen in the sun Last Line: And love may bleed to death, till it has gone. Alternate Author Name(s): Davies, W. H. Subject(s): Light | ||||||||
What lovely meadows have I seen in the Sun, With their large families of little flowers Smiling beneath the quiet, peaceful skies! Let no man trepass on these happy hours, And think acquaintance waits in my two eyes. This glorious light that makes the butterfly Go staggering like a drunkard through the air, Till he lies dazed and panting on a stone -- This light I feel is both my light and fire, And Love may bleed to death, till it has gone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONNET: 1.
