APRIL MOON, by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Roses are sweet to smell and see Last Line: The solitude, the fear. Alternate Author Name(s): Ramal, Walter; De La Mare, Walter | ||||||||
Roses are sweet to smell and see, And lilies on the stem; But rarer, stranger buds there be, And she was like to them. The little moon that April brings, More lovely shade than light, That, setting, silvers lonely hills Upon the verge of night -- Close to the world of my poor heart So stole she, still and clear; Now that she's gone, O dark, and dark, The solitude, the fear. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ALONE (2) by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE AN EPITAPH by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE ARABIA by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE BUNCHES OF GRAPES by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE ECHO by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE ENGLAND (2) by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE FARE WELL by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE FIVE EYES by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE JOHN MOULDY by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE MOTLEY by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE |
