RECOMPENSE, by EDITH CURTIS DE LONG First Line: Fate hath decreed our lives be lived apart Last Line: For love like ours, there's glad eternity. Subject(s): Absence; Separation; Isolation | ||||||||
Fate hath decreed our lives be lived apart, But oh, my dear, you're safe within my heart, And oft in lonely watches of the night To you my spirit takes its winged flight. What matter, though your face I seldom see, Doth not the Soul of you belong to me? And will not God at last with love Divine Give unto me the Jewel that is mine? Of small moment the wretched years will be; For love like ours, there's glad Eternity. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EVENING OF THE MIND by DONALD JUSTICE CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM HOME by JANE KENYON THE PROBLEM by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES WHEN A WOMAN LOVES A MAN by DAVID LEHMAN THIS UNMENTIONABLE FEELING by DAVID LEHMAN |
