ON GAZING OVER A FIELD OF DAISIES, by KENNETH DEAROLF First Line: Here I stand on the edge of the spring Last Line: Still hold me in my heart. Subject(s): Daisies; Flowers | ||||||||
Here I stand on the edge of the spring Gazing over into summer, While between, The fields of petaled daisies Delay me on the scene. Can it be Their brilliant whites and yellows Flashing through the fields In little swells and billows To the boarder of the trees? A crusade of daisies! Little children bearing banners White and waving on the breeze. Perhaps it is their haughty air, So tall and fair, And set with white and yellow gems On slender stems. However, Spring advances into summer and they depart, But the fields of petaled daisies Still hold me in my heart. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THEY SAW THE PROBLEM by MARK JARMAN SHAKE THE SUPERFLUX! by DAVID LEHMAN THE M??TIER OF BLOSSOMING by DENISE LEVERTOV TANKA DIARY (6) by HARRYETTE MULLEN VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN |
