TWILIGHT OVER MEMORY LANE, by MATHILDE DORE First Line: Into the twilight's velvet curtain Last Line: Of the muffled vesper bell. Subject(s): Evening; Sunset; Twilight | ||||||||
Into the twilight's velvet curtain, Fireflies flicker, slow, uncertain; While from the boggy marshes dense, The guttural croak of frogs commence. Over the hillside's wooded rim, Flames the full moon's glowing brim; A rustle of summer's gentle breeze, Sounding a starlit symphony. And now a breathless silence broods, Around this tranquil solitude; Only broken by the swell, Of the muffled vesper bell. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN FEBRUARY EVENING IN NEW YORK by DENISE LEVERTOV THE HOUSE OF DUST: 1 by CONRAD AIKEN TWILIGHT COMES by HAYDEN CARRUTH IN THE EVENINGS by LUCILLE CLIFTON |
