BE YOURSELF, by FAIRFAX DOWNEY First Line: I've got stays with long pink laces Last Line: Ever were blamed on me. Subject(s): Clothing & Dress | ||||||||
I've got stays with long pink laces, I've got corsets with whalebone braces. Grandma used to wear such cases -- They can't get 'em on me. Old frumps pull amazing faces, When they see no corset traces. Antique shops are proper places For 'em -- not around me. I'm for light and airy graces. I'm for ease and breathing spaces. No "Old Ironsides" embraces Ever were blamed on me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DRESSING MY DAUGHTERS by MARK JARMAN IT'S HARD TO KEEP A CLEAN SHIRT CLEAN by JUNE JORDAN ODE TO A DRESSMAKER'S DUMMY by DONALD JUSTICE THE RED SHIRT by PHILIP LEVINE |
