APRIL, by ELIZABETH DAVIES DUTCHER First Line: I never saw an april quite like this Last Line: Brings cheer and happiness to me. Subject(s): April; Spring | ||||||||
I never saw an April quite like this: A robin's song from leafless apple trees, A violet-covered mound of amethyst, A warm and gentle perfumed breeze. I had remembered other April weather, Snow and rain and sleet and hail That chanced to come together. Today I saw hepaticas down the trail. Just now there came a tremulous thrill, A bluebird flits along the lane, The south wind scampers. The daffodil raises its head and blooms again, A promise of leaves on every tree Brings cheer and happiness to me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
