AUTUMN, by JEAN J. EASTLEY First Line: The leaves are falling fast / every tree ... Last Line: As the season's autumn's call. Subject(s): Weather | ||||||||
The leaves are falling fast, Every tree must shed them all, Forming a carpet so beautiful, Listen! The winds of Autumn call. Some long since in budding time have fallen Still so tender, small and green. Others in the Summer faded, These maturity have seen. Yes, lives are like leaves in falling -- Some must go in childhood's day; While others in the bloom of Summer, Some 'til golden old age stay. God does surely call us, As the season's Autumn's call. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD HOW TO FORETELL A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER by TED KOOSER LEAVING BUFFALO by CHARLES MARTIN WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES TO WARM, THE BOYS DRIVE SHIRTLESS by MARY JO BANG THE LIFE OF TOWNS: ONE-MAN TOWN by ANNE CARSON POWER FAILURE by MADELINE DEFREES THE CITY OF THE OLESHA FRUIT by NORMAN DUBIE FRAGMENTS WRITTEN WHILE TRAVELING...A MIDWESTERN HEAT WAVE by JAMES GALVIN HIC JACET by LOUISE CHANDLER MOULTON |
