BEAUTY IN MY HAND, by GEORGE ELLISTON First Line: Beauty, by my door Last Line: That I may understand. Subject(s): Beauty | ||||||||
Beauty, by my door, Lord, help me swing it wide, That I may bring the joy Of loveliness inside. Beauty drifting there In lilac's lavender, And shaking frail white plumes In all the winds astir. I, who at night have craved That stars bend down to me, Who, days on end, have begged For union with each tree, Am answered now at last With beauty in my hand -- Spring comes -- Lord, give me grace That I may understand. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN DIVINELY SUPERFLUOUS BEAUTY by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE BEAUTY OF THINGS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS LIFE FROM THE LIFELESS by ROBINSON JEFFERS REARMAMENT by ROBINSON JEFFERS SHANE ONEILLS CAIRN by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
