CONTRAST, by O. E. ENFIELD First Line: It's april and the snow is sifting down Last Line: As japonicas in the snow? Subject(s): Calm; Placid; Undisturbed; Tranquility | ||||||||
It's April and the snow is sifting down, Yet, there are no winds to blow; Behold, as bright as fire and red as blood Are japonicas in the snow! I stand before the window, mute, enrapt, As a lover would and gaze On the bushes green, now draped in white Where those blossoms brilliant blaze. I wonder, when I reach that time in life -- The time when my steps are slow -- Shall my heart and thoughts make such contrast As japonicas in the snow? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A COTTAGE IN THE MIDST' by KENNETH REXROTH STILL ON WATER by KENNETH REXROTH THE LOVE POEMS OF MARICHIKO: 6 by KENNETH REXROTH REVELATION by LOUIS UNTERMEYER TO A FRIEND by JOHN GARDINER CALKINS BRAINARD PAX BRITANNICA by ALFRED AUSTIN |
