MOON-SHADOWS; A SONNET, by CORA RANDALL FABBRI First Line: I leaned out from my window yesternight Last Line: And see my whole sky luminous and fair. Subject(s): Moon | ||||||||
I LEANED out from my window yesternight, And saw the whole sky luminous and pale From the moon, wrapt in a cloud's filmy veil, As when one shades a candle out of sight Behind the hollowed palm, letting the light Fall o'er the shadowed room. Across each vale The wind on tiptoe sped and shook the frail, Top branches of the pine-tree in its flight. Lady, thine eyes' eclipse hath drawn the rare White moon of joy behind a cloud, and stole Its star-tide; yet thy memory is there To shed its soft light where the shadows roll. I lean out from the window of my soul, And see my whole sky luminous and fair. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN THE MOON AND THE SPECTATOR by LEONIE ADAMS FULL MOON by KARLE WILSON BAKER NO MORE OF THE MOON by MORRIS GILBERT BISHOP THE DEPARTURE by DENISE LEVERTOV THE MOON IN GREECE by TIMOTHY LIU A PORTRAIT by CORA RANDALL FABBRI |
