HALLOWED EARTH, by MAUDE PERRY FAETH First Line: A carpet of gold's on the pathway Last Line: Hearts are tuned to the father above. Subject(s): Earth; Hearts; Landscape; Nature; World | ||||||||
A carpet of gold's on the pathway Trees aflame show against the sky. In awe of the splendor of autumn I humbly exclaim, "What am I?" God's paint brush has 'lumined the hillside With a glory no mortal can ape And the wealth of the marvel of nature Has hallowed this earthly landscape. The world is drenched with a beauty That brings pleasure tinged with pain And souls expand to catch the glow That hearts can scarce contain. By the wonder of sunset and autumn By the beauty of laughter and love By the song of a bird in the night time Hearts are tuned to the Father above. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BROKEN BALANCE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SUBJECTED EARTH by ROBINSON JEFFERS GEOMETAPHYSICS by MARGARET AVISON NIAGARA by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOPHISTICATION by CONRAD AIKEN I SEE CHILE IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR by AGHA SHAHID ALI WASHING OUR HANDS OF THE REST OF AMERICA by MARVIN BELL |
