AFTER LOVE HAD ENDED, by ELEANOR A. FAY First Line: See the silver streak as it gleams and flashes Last Line: Sorrow transcended. Subject(s): Love - Loss Of | ||||||||
See the silver streak as it gleams and flashes On the sparkling sands where it falls and splashes, Leaving fiery pools till the next wave dashes Flames into ashes. Who can warn a maid -- in her youth not knowing -- "Happiness is brief, and will soon be going." From those mirrored eyes where her love is glowing, Tears will be flowing. Who would ever know that a soul depended For its hope and faith -- after love had ended, On this shining light, from the sky suspended? Sorrow transcended. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ROSE AND MURRAY by CONRAD AIKEN THOUGH WE NO LONGER POSSESS IT by MARK JARMAN THE GLORY OF THE DAY WAS IN HER FACE by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON LOVE COME AND GONE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 33 by JAMES JOYCE A SCOTCH SONG by JOANNA BAILLIE I DID NOT THINK by ELEANOR A.
