SPRING AND MOTHER, by CAROLINE DARR FITZSIMMONS First Line: Far away in wooded fields Last Line: Dear the precepts that you taught. Subject(s): Mothers; Spring | ||||||||
Far away in wooded fields, Neath the grass and mosses Sleeping, Nestling so still, so low, Little heads are shyly peeping, Waiting for the snows to go; Violets, May-apple blossoms, Forget-me-nots that you loved so. They bring back childhood days to me, School hours over, oft I Gathered, Mother, these sweet flowers for thee. O'er hill and bank of stream I wandered; To part from thee I never thought; Dear to me are first Spring blossoms, Dear the precepts that you taught. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE SEA LOVER by SARA TEASDALE |
