FOUNTAINS, by JAMES ELROY FLECKER Poet's Biography First Line: Soft is the collied night, and cool Last Line: Wave and float the nenuphars. Subject(s): Fountains | ||||||||
Soft is the collied night, and cool The wind about the garden pool. Here will I dip my burning hand And move an inch of drowsy sand, And pray the dark reflected skies To fasten with their seal mine eyes. A million million leagues away Among the stars the goldfish play, And high above the shadowed stars Wave and float the nenuphars. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FOUNTAIN by DENISE LEVERTOV THE BROKEN FOUNTAIN by AMY LOWELL FOUNTAIN IN AVIGNON by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR THE DRINKING FOUNTAIN by ROBERT DUNCAN THE FOUNTAIN (2) by SARA TEASDALE THE FOUNTAIN (3) by SARA TEASDALE ROMAN FOUNTAIN by LOUISE BOGAN SANTORIN (A LEGEND OF THE AEGEAN) by JAMES ELROY FLECKER |
