IF, by MARCELLA P. FRANK First Line: If dying I might pierce the endless deep Last Line: I'd win the master title to my skiff. | ||||||||
If dying I might pierce the endless deep -- If I with God-like surety might explore The alluring depths of that so awful sweep And find my hidden hopes become a store Of timeless truth, from mortal moorings I Would loose my skiff in some flamboyant dawn, And ride adrift with only silent sky For company, -- my earth-day forest lawn Horizon lost. What matter then that time In thievishness would through my body steal? I would have done with body's pantomime, And be oblivious of woe or weal. With subtlety to woo the staying "If", I'd win the master title to my skiff. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TROY PARK: 1.
